No more surfing hiatus

I went surfing today!

I haven't been in maybe over a year

I rented a board on a whim 2 hours before I had to leave for the airport

My feet stung from walking barefoot through the parking lot, across the street, down the sandy gravel, and across the rocks to the soft beach sand

But it was worth it

It always is I guess

I was out in the water for about an hour and met a couple from Barcelona and a dude from Germany

It's so beautiful how the ocean draws all kinds to her

I love her

My first wave back after my surfing hiatus brought tears to my eyes

The seaweed was comforting me, the salt was healing me, and the fish were cheering me on

When I was sitting on my board waiting for waves the long algae crusted kelp was quite literally reaching out it's hands towards me, beckoning me to stay

I guess the ocean missed me just as much as I missed her
